Throughout the year, you will want to feed your hives. Choose between a frame or top hive feeder with us!
Frame Feeder
This frame feeder or division board feeder takes the place of one frame in your deep hive body. The one gallon plastic 9-5/8" deep frame feeder will provide the food needed for your bees. The bees can descend down the ladder set inside the lid in order to minimise the chance for your bees drowning during feeding. This feeder can be used in hive all year long, since bees keep hive at 70 degrees the sugar syrup will not freeze during the winter. Easy to fill, clean, and holds 1 gallon of sugar syrup.
Top Hive feeder:
Top hive feeder fits on top of the oval hole of the inner cover. Holds approx 2 gallons of sugar syrup. A durable plastic cup covers the cone which allows for the bees to eat the feed from a smaller area while at the same time protecting them from the rest of the syrup in the feeder. As the bees eat, the liquid feed flows from the outer edges of the feeder to under the plastic cup. This feeder is:
- Easy access to fill; don’t need to crack open the hive or disturb the cluster.
- Extremely durable; won’t leak or break.
- Ready-to-use; doesn’t need to be painted.
- Keeps bee deaths to a minimum.
- Can put in dishwasher to clean if gets dirty.
FYI: It is hard for the bees to get to the top hive feeder in colder weather 50 degrees or below at night. To learn more about when the most appropriate time to feed your bees is, check out our Intro to Beekeeping Class under Classes.
